Student is able to identify 26 English letter sounds, but s/he cannot understand the intonation and the meaning of sentences and songs. E.g. Student understands the consonant and vowel of the word ""cat"", but s/he does not understand ""Do you have a cat?"" because s/he has not learned interrogative sentences.
能以正確的語調說出簡易句型的句子及介紹自己、家人和朋友，且能作簡單的提問、回答和敘述。但無法朗讀和吟唱歌謠韻文。 實例：能以簡易英語句子描述自己，如I am a girl（我是女生），但因不熟悉句型的延伸變化及其他詞彙，而無法朗讀和吟唱歌謠韻文，如《Pretty Girls》中的歌詞：There's a lot of pretty girls in this city（這城市充滿著漂亮的女孩）。
Student can read out simple English sentences with the correct intonation including introducing his/herself. S/he can also propose and answer simple questions, or describe something/someone simply. But the student can not read and sing English songs and rhymes. E.g. Student can describe his/herself with simple English sentences, such as "I am a girl". But She cannot read and sing English songs and rhymes like "Pretty Girl" - "There's a lot of pretty girls in this city."
Student can recognize 26 lower-case English letters and 26 upper-case English letters. But s/he cannot read and understand simple English words and signs, or read and understand commonly used English words in songs, rhymes and stories. The student does not have an idea on English writing principles. E.g. The student can identify 26 lower-case and upper-case letters, but s/he cannot understand any signs or words like "open" or "here".
